Elon got his battery production up to pace and able to cut costs.

Cars had multiple price increases over the last 2 years. Elon saw a chance to move more volume maybe and slashed them.

Battery is def one of them. If you watched Camissa's video on the Tesla truck, Tesla developed new batteries in house with significantly better storage and charging, make them 100% in the US now and the cost is significantly cheaper than the previous ones used.
Im sure all the other factors apply as well.

It's too bad all those storage and charging breakthroughs didn't translate to faster charging or better range (unless, of course, you buy the models with more batteries, which isn't really an advancement).

Manufacturers lower prices for one reason and one reason only, because supply exceeds demand. Remember when Dodge reinstated the Power Dollars this summer to sell more Challengers? Yeah, me neither.

I'm retired because of health issues. All my drag stuff has been sold.
I would enjoy taking an ass whopping from a 170.

Please remember that the Plaid is AWD .. it can run the same time doing no prep! No tuning.. no fuel issues.. no heat soak! It literally has almost every advantage! I planned to hit the track 3 different times with the car leading up to the race but it rained out on all 3 test and tune nights! This event was on the schedule and paid for months in advance! I had a lot working against me .. but I still went out and raced.. I couldn’t back out and that’s not my style! Brooks is a good guy and we still had fun! It just didn’t work out for me. Who else is out there actually racing other cars right now with their 170 and not just chasing times? It’s a way different game racing heads up against a Robot that runs 9.3 all day. Just something to think about! I will have another chance .. don’t worry
