So
With the 3.8 out would you still go 3.0 over 3.8?

Knowing what I know now about spinning the 3.0 fast enough to make 25 psi of boost on 377 in.³ displacement and how Whipple considers that over speeding the blower and the short life that many blowers have had spinning if fast enough to get enough boost to make big power Yes I would go with the 3.8 especially if you have more displacement like you have 426 in.³ to feed. Especially if it was a first time purchase us that already spent our money on a 3.0 don’t have the funds to take a loss and selling it and stepping up to the 3.8. If I had my choice to do it again and I had my $7000 to start with again, I would add two more to it and get the 3.8.

They don’t make a 3.8 kit yet. Doing this with the hot rod kit. The billet part got me. I was lucky to move mine fast. When I was in Texas was not mine anymore

So what is the hot rod kit? Sounds like you need to have a 3.0 to add the 3.8? So selling the 3.0 you would not have an install kit to sell with it?

We decided at the last minute before Houston to replace the 3.0 with my 3.8. This was on the 401 in the blue car that was making 1200whp thru the TH400. Some limiting factors…. Just swapped over the 108 tb off the 3.0. We will be running a new 120 when it’s put together in mine. Also went conservative on the pulley with a 3.125. We immediately saw 29 lbs and 1400 whp. You be the judge 🤓

I’m going to use the 112 off the 3.0. It almost went on the bumper with the 3.0

I’m at 24 psi with a 3.125 pulley with my 441 motor using a 120 tb.

I’m keeping the 112
3.0 upper spinning it to 6500

i’m happy with the power I make at 24-25 psi on the street but the problem is having to spin the 3.0 to fast even on just 377 in.³ to get such a boost. I’d love to go with the 38 and spin at much slower and have it last for 10 years instead of worrying about how soon I’m going to wear out my 3.0 blower as the first one didn’t even last six months. Maybe I just got a bum one. I guess we will tell when I run the replaced pinned version whatever that means.

A 3.0? Be curious to know what Rev they’re on now. Please post picture of it, it’s on the back edge on top by rotor discharge. Last one I saw was a Rev J.
