I have the brisk ER14s non projected plugs. All 16 of them came gapped at .026 verified by me. I also have the granatelli 80K volt coils on the way. I thought since plugs are going to be done the coils need to come off at any rate.
I emailed Brisk and they said that is correct. They come pregapped at .026 to .028. Brisk said I can open them up a bit.
Would you open them up? Would I be losing power by keeping them at .026? I am at elevation and am only making 14-15 pounds of boost due to it being a stroker with long tube 2 inch headers and a ported snout on the 2.4.
So should I open them up to .028 or .030 or leave them at .026. I am thinking of leaving them alone as when they wear a bit they would open up to .028.

Personally @ your altitude I would open them up to .028-.029.

I'm not recommending you do it, but if I lived there that's what I would do.

BTW it's going to be like a experimental thing at first which is a considerate amount of labor.

If I was you I’d start at .28. Funny you post this today as I have been thinking about spark plugs.

I would leave them. What I was told by a tuner he found the wider gap gave them a little more gas mileage but no more hp. If you blow the spark out, you will loose a lot

.032. Brisk told me some come gapped at .026 and some at .028. All 16 of mine were at .026.

I was thinking they were installed so I wouldn't pull them to open them up. But if you haven't put them in yet if it makes you feel better you could open them a little.

Ya his 14 to 15 pounds of boost isn’t very much tho. I don’t think .26 is recommended until 18+ 18 is me remembering roughly.

But like I said, I was told there isn't any power to be had going more. We also have 2 plugs so .026 would be like .052 gap:)

Maybe I should have said worth the time over recommended. Since he hasn’t put them in he is probabaly fine doing either. Probably will see no difference either way.
so with that being said we agree 😊

Thanks Men. I will put them at .028. I wanted to change the plugs as I had a catastrophic supercharger belt failure where I got a code that it was not firing correctly on cylinder 2. So the tune was running super rich and the engine shook. But that was 8 weeks ago and I ran a personal best this last Friday. So I do not think there was any permanent damage. The car has close to 73K on it so I thought I would change the coils and plugs. The last time I changed the plugs was at 40K.

At that mileage, with the event you had, plus your taking the plugs out so your there already, I’d be doing a leak down test on it to know where it’s at. Brings long term peace of mind knowing where your at. Especially since it was a cylinder 2 event, 2 and 7 notorious for issues.

I gapped mine at 0.030 and I run as high as 18 psi of boost . I haven't had an issue yet .

I had them installed at .028 and the pro series coils from granatelli. Starts up so much easier with these 80k volt coils.
