I want to be able to have some on hand and maybe rebuild the blower, aka replace the bearings, when and if the mood strikes, not wait until the blower is taken apart then have to order bearings, wait for them to arrive, then install them, etc.

Stock Hellcat blower, 2016.

Thanks! There HAS to be a few HP available from a 14,000 RPM bearing being replaced by full ceramic.

Well, if all else fails find someone who has blown theirs up and can measure the bearings for you.

Linda :)

This is the Response I got today

Thank you for your inquiry regarding bearings for your FCA supercharger. Unfortunately due to contractual obligations with FCA, IHI Turbo is not allowed to supply end users with FCA components. Please see your FCA dealer with inquires on parts availability questions.

Please note the bearing replacement is an involved process and unlikely that an individual without the proper tooling can obtain the correct preload specifications to ensure a satisfactory replacement.

I can believe this statement, not all bearings are knock off press back on simple tasks. I have free access to large presses and even induction bearing and bore heaters and liquid nitrogen to shrink components and 30 years involved in bearing sales, service, selection, replacement and upgrading and I wouldn’t attempt this on a unscuffed blower that just has noisy bearings, no way. 2k for a Jon Bond refresh and upgrade well worth the insurance of a properly done job. These things spin way to fast to take a chance on.

Might not be, and with knowing the right preload figures and having gauges to measure components accurately and a procedure to go by with at least once I’d do it but getting that would be the tough part for me, getting the book part. Their probably an angular contact bearing of some sort, a bearing with zero internal clearance. I’d love to pull a junker apart and see what’s supposedly maybe maybe not so special inside. The rotor lobes run so so close together without touching any where along their twists it’s phenomenal, wouldn’t take much runout wise to change that. It’s like replacing spindle bearings in machine tools that spin 25k, their bearings are sold in sets that have to be stacked correctly or their tear each other up quick

If 25 k input the driven rotor turns 1.66 times that, so it’s turning almost 40k, that’s ripping for something as large as it is. Add to that it has to endure changes in temperature over about 200 or so degrees, and not touch one another, ever, not even from vibrations or distortions at speed, for a long time. That’s a feat.

And remember, it making noise is one thing, it getting REALLY unhappy in a flash at 25 k spitting shrapnel into you engine turning 6500+ is another, you’d, we’d wish we spent the 2-3k on a experienced blower rebuild then wouldn’t we??

This, The legs that support the bearing housings, look like legs from a spider, to me at least lol 4FBC3D9F-1084-4767-93D7-860C8609FD52.jpeg

This smoothing blending and air-foiling of the obstructions in the air path let’s the blower breath more which means more boost without spinning it any faster, good for 3040 hp I’ve heard. I want to do that to my blower, even just adding the cone cover over the flat bearing plug is good for some boost

Stock bearing cover plug looks like this, they sell this cap to help blend air flow over it

Yep, Agree, not doing mine until it starts making noise but when it does it’s getting stage 2 at minimum. Replacing bearings in the snout is no big deal, I’ve done them before.
