I don't think so...owner paid a $50K ADM on this car as shown in the pics and it sells for $108K 6 years later. Nice spec too.

People thinking these (or the 170) will be collector cars aren't reading the room. Just too many that were bubble wrapped and put away for them to be that rare.

Lot of money for a booklet. I have all mine too though still. Including the satin care pamphlet. Also have my window sticker and build sheets from the factory. The orange low clearance thing that hangs from the mirror for the lip). All that junk

Collectability?

Yes, it exists. Otherwise, how did we end up with four Challengers?

BaT is not exactly the place to get top money for an 1,100 mile Demon.

Maybe I'm not up on BaT then. Every time I'm in there the selling prices seem low, good deals to be had.

The problem is they they ARE collectable.

The other problem is that they WILL be collectable...

That will just say that WE failed to teach our grandchildren about these cars.

I'm not sure they'll be collectable even in 50 years. You'll have 2800(ish) bubble wrapped examples come out of the wood work with all the grand kids selling ones they inherited.

People weren't collecting cars in the 1970s, they were driving and consuming them. That's what makes the one aunt Susie had in the garage all those years with 5,000 miles on it worth something today.

The person that bought this Demon for $50K ADM lost in more ways than one, basically selling at MSRP 6 years later. Shame they didn't enjoy the car more.

Speaking of which, I'm headed out to turn some E85 in to noise right now :)

“Collectability” is a fickle term. Collecting “collectibles” is speculation with substantial risks. Gold, art, sneakers, etc. all have their ups and downs. Few, if any, are good “investments”.

Cars are historically bad investments, not only because of the market, but the high cost of ownership. Unlike gold or a art, cars require continuing maintenance, substantial square footage of climate controlled space, insurance, etc.

Smart “collectors” buy what makes then happy. And if your collectible does not make you happy just to own it, you are not thinking rationally.

I am thrilled beyond description to own my HC!

I've got a considerable 1980s comic book collection. When I bought comics back then I'd buy one to read and one (or more) to keep brand new. I intended to sell them in my 20s to fund my first home purchase. Guess what.....they're still in my office closet and I'm still waiting for them to be worth anything lol. I based my collection on historical prices from the 1960s at the time. Kids in the 60s read the comics and most got torn up. The still decent ones were selling for BIG bucks. Well, everyone else in the 1980s did the same thing I did and now the market is flooded with brand new 1980s comics making them pretty much worthless.

Exactly. My well used '19 Durango makes me happy. And it's far from a "collectible".

The 'Cat makes me very happy, not because it might become a collectible, but because it's just so much fun to drive.
Similarly, I really like driving the V6 Challenger - largely because it's much more of a "disposable" car.

Guess the moral of the story is that driving around curves at the limit of adhesion is more fun than collecting.
