Very nice. Eight-lugs even nicer. 421 or 389? I assume 389 because no badges?

Yes 389 10.25 to 1 compression, and positive traction, 9.3 axle.

These are what they used for a model when developing the Tempest-65 GTO. Made the Tempest-GTO 5" shorter and 5" narrower.

I remember those way cool luxury liners:cool::cool::cool::cool:(y)(y)
Yes, These things float down the road like they are on a cloud. You can steer it with the tip of your finger. But it also runs very well. What I like most is the absence of plastic. moldings exterior and interior are stainless. grill is metal not plastic. the only plastic pieces, are light lens's and the Grand Prix billboard on the dash. And weighs 4,100 lbs.

Very nice! My buddy had a 1964 Grand Prix and my mom had a 1965 Star Chief 421 4V which I drove some when I got my license in 1971. Both cars were cruising in style!

In the Star Chief the combination of big steering wheel and super boosted power steering, you are correct I often steered with one finger.

I did think about what would happen in a crash if my head hit those 3 cast gauge pods on the dash.

I did not wear them for years, they started making them more comfortable in later years.

Not much story to tell, 1963 Pontiac's have been in my blood since I was four years old. In 1963 I went with my Dad in his 1954 Ford to the Pontiac Retail Store in Pontiac Michigan. The Factory Retail store was about three miles from the Pontiac Assembly plant that my Dad worked at building these beauties. You could purchase the cars direct from the factory outlet for cost plus their profit markup. which was much less than going to the dealer. That day he purchased a Marlyn Aqua Catalina hard top with blue interior. I remember standing in the rear floor looking over the seat back as the salesmen explained how the heater control worked. Just like it was yesterday. I think Dad gave $2,800.00 dollars for it. I gave much more than that for this one unfortunately.

Very nice example of early muscle car. Cool story about outlet store, “cost plus small profit” imagine that on our platform. In today’s world that would be dealer invoice plus small profit to keep the doors open and meet payroll.
