They make "backend" money on every finance deal they do.

Of course they do...and some lending institutions kick back more than others depending on how aggressive they want to be @ any given time

Nothing wrong with that, I think, as long as I get a large portion of that kickback knocked off the price.

If it wasn't for saving thousands of dollars I would want to deal with the hassle of financing.

If I somehow end up needing a replacement for my '18, I won't argue too much about the price - as long as I can buy a new "old" Challenger. I'd gladly pay more Tuesday for a Hamburger today or for one than whatever new stuff any brand comes out with.

Arrigo Dodge has a white knuckle(w red interior and black stripe) 170 on cars.com listed for $159,999. That's the least expensive new one I've seen.

Went to Autonation Chrysler, Dodge in north Phoenix yesterday. They have 3 Demon 170's for sale on the showroom floor. Sticker price ranges around $130,000 with an ADM of $50-75k. Salesman said that all 3 were special orders, that when the car arrived, were refused by the buyer even though each lost a $10k deposit. There are several dealers in Phoenix with Demon 170's for sale. Guess the initial buying frenzy was finally replaced with buyers remorse? Gonna keep my 2019 REWB and be thankful that I can enjoy driving a Hellcat!!!

I find it hard to believe someone would walk away from a 10g deposit..(I know I wouldn't)...but then I would never think of paying an ADM for ANY car..if the frenzy is indeed over..they might have to take less

Mine was 129 and change..and in WNY..it was 8.75 % tax on top..plus plate and reg fee...I was shakin writin the check...that's it for me folks...I'm done...never wrote a check that big for any car...and wont do it again..as more than one here have said...I'm glad I'm old...

Dealer said the buyers couldn't afford the cars when they arrived. I also find it hard to believe that someone would walk away from a 10K deposit and the fake name idea is something I hadn't considered. When these cars were first announced, guys were paying a huge markup, often 100k over sticker (that's what I was quoted) for a price around 230K, so maybe I would walk away from a deal and lose 10k rather than pay 230k for a car that could be purchased for 180k. Just guessing

We've had people walk away from a $50K deposit in real estate. Sometimes things happen.

Seems odd they would have 3 buyers back out like that IMO. Betting on the ordered under a fake name scam to insure the dealer had them for 'stock'.

Shit does happen tho, I missed out on a '15 HC during the middle of the feeding frenzy by a few hours. Car came in but the guy had died a week before & the widow didn't want it. Dealer posted it & it was gone before I could jump on it.

Similar thing occurred the day I went to pick-up my '18 Durango R/T. Sitting right next to it was one of the early build DDSRT's. Sales mgr said the dude that ordered it had a heart attack a few days before it came in and he was trying to decide if he really wanted it. I had the option to hold off on the R/T till he decided in a few days, but elected to just press on with what I had ordered.
