Have my First blower apart now to fix it, gear side of drive rotor galled into the back of the case because bearing bore was too tight to allow it to expand forward in the plate, it couldn’t because it was too tight. I didn’t know this until after the damage was done. Started car up, sounded perfect, let it warm up 10 minutes all still good, stabbed it a few times, very responsive, held it at 2500-3000 rpms, 20 seconds in engine just shut off, no noise no nothing, took SC belt off couldn’t turn the SC, removed kid saw galling on back of rotor case. I hear there’s another plate in development by another shop that won’t have these issues and a superior finish as well, and cost less too!!

Back of can, 20 gallons =+3.5 numbers, so with good 93 fuel in tank should be at least 96.5 octane, 15 gallons about 98 octane.
I just did 3 runs today, first one I bypassed the intercoolers to let IC water temp get hot and IAT’s hot, still no knock and low knock sensor volts. This is 3 back to back hard 1/4 runs netting 11.5 11.6 runs on the streets of Mexico. This stuff works in my book

Here’s spark data with hot IAT’s , this 1/4 only netted 130.4 mph, look at the spark allowed only, 11 degrees
Next run with intercoolers and lower IAT’s had 14 degrees of spark and 134.5 mph 1/4.
I pity you guys down south. I should have done a run with killer chiller running and 50 degree IAT’s, I’ve seen 136 mph 1/4’s with it in play

Yea, FAS, learned the hard way, what a POS vendor. Helped the man with what was wrong with his product and got left hanging out in the rain in my underwear afterwards, nice guy. Thing that pisses me off the most is that blower was already making 17 psi on a 2.85 without the plate. Hopefully when I’m done putting it back together it will be as good or better. It will be equipped with bearings and seals rated for 30,000 rpm, not that it will ever see such but running at a speed lower then that it should last a long time. Problem is there’s absolutely NOTHING out there on how to rebuild them. I called Jon Bond and he wouldn’t share crap with me, zip zilch, nadda, told me flat out he’s not in business to share his secrets, nice. Guess this will be a true test of my skills. Wish me luck!!

I did back in the 70's butt called a different product,,,,. Different usage. I would think they are necessary good products but not inter changeable. Un lesss you call the dude with the blue pills and at that point,,, doesn't matter. Matter of fact,,, is fishing good for the soul in times like this?? Time for muzzeled AR15 with kite nite and scope. Bait??? Bag of seeds?? D D 's is closed. Theirs bait.

That totally sucks. Sorry you're going through that after all the trouble, expense, and work to improve it. I'm not really sure what your doing here though. Are you cutting down the lobes(lengthwise) to fit better in the case with the old FAS plate or are you turning down the bearing journals cause theirs are too tight? I thought FAS just ported the stock plate but I guess they use there own and make it too tight. It's also completely mind blowing that .003 stopped the blower dead in it's tracks. I would think it would just keep galling and tear out metal till self destruction, with the power of the engine turning it.

Turned galled up material off end of the rotor then Built up the end of the rotor with aluminum spray weld then faced it smooth and coated with Teflon just like OEM, no change in length.

Some how the engine electronics new it was taking to much power to turn the blower and shut it down, I was amazed myself, happily amazed!!

Back of case looked like this, facing it off next and doing the spray weld and reface to it too if it doesn’t clean up smooth, it will be good as new when finished. My worry is timing the rotors and preloading the bearings correctly on the gear end of the unit. I’ve got a plan, hoping it works.

You added the PID "timing advance cyl 1" to your log data posted above. That's the actual timing.

You need to see if you can find the PID "iat advance" in diablo to add that to your log as well. That will be the amount of timing being removed as a result of IAT temp. I have mine set to start pulling timing above 130°F.

Didn't someone else on this forum get a FAS plate? Maybe @FFBOS ?

Some of those businesses start out right and then getting to the next level was a huge problem for them. Like Builder Bill had the "Fix" for the Nag 1
Stealing our Rossler Trans and installing it in his Miracle Jeep pretending it was a Nag1 was his "Fix". Our Rossler was borrowed for Big Al's Purple Dragpack to get into the 7s with a promise of a refresh or Pay back. Never happened. They all stuck together so the local police would do nothing about it!
Then we had "Rollbar" steal our race car parts and sell them, I heard he was stealing directly from that company too that no longer exists AGP. Many in that corridor were all pocket fed between the stealing and "paperwork marketing". Many came right out of the old Arrington or other vendors who worked together with them to feed their pockets! John posted "Thieves hang together" they did and are still in the Race world, many still are working together too!
Then we had PWR the engine builder who robbed from Peter to pay Paul and guess who Paul was? The guy that said he could deliver your engine on Friday..........but never happened! We all thought Paul was Andy dang!

John as Top Cat was posting to help with the Truth, Experience and Knowledge from the track to build our Hellcats to go Fassster!

I'm always glad to see posts of knowledge and help from members![woot][wrenchin]

Ran car real low on gas the other night playing in Mexico. Filled up with Sunoco Ultra 93 and a Qt of VP Octanium, 16.5 gallons of fuel. Did a test pull and data log today to see how 1qt and a empty tank fairs before going out hunting tonight . Look at the knock sensor volts, this at almost 17.5 psi of boost. Tempted to give it a another half degree of timing up top. Easy on it street 1/4 netted 11.6 at 135, its a happy camper. Sure wish the tracks would open :(
