Currently, the mainstream automotive market in China is dominated by new energy vehicles (hybrids, pure electric cars, etc.), which has made high horsepower more accessible in the local market. For instance, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra already boasts an impressive 1,548 horsepower and is priced at just 530,000 RMB (around 73,000 USD).

Yes, muscle cars are pretty niche in China, but through parallel importers you can find Redeyes, SS , Demons, even Hennessey-tuned beasts and Dodge Charger Hellcats. I’d guess the total number of Challenger Hellcat variants probably doesn’t exceed 300 units nationwide - relatively rare compared to exotics like Ferraris/Lambos/McLarens.

The consumption tax is not a tariff; it applies solely to engine size and is levied equally on both imported and domestically produced vehicles. The logic behind China's high consumption tax on large-displacement vehicles aligns with the EU’s carbon tax mechanisms and Japan’s environmentally-weighted vehicle taxation, all designed to deter energy-intensive consumption patterns.

Un Holy guy requests pictures of EVERTHING...from EVERYBODY...yet all he posts are pictures of his filthy engine bay...(and bent headers)...I seem to remember him even requesting pics of yer Senior Prom......my guess..he reads on a 3rd grade level...thus the requests for all the pics..
