Bro, its to cool the intake temps its not being used as fuel. It has to be tuned to fuel. Yea, E85 numbers would be similar to 93/Meth if it was tuned to 93/Meth. U cant just add fuel bro and not tune to it. Doesnt work that way. I didnt make any more power with Methanol.

Cooling IAT's has absolutely nothing to do with octane increasing and therefore does not need further tuning. Tuning to it means ur depending on it as added octane. Thats not how it works.

I don't know how you can say it doesn't add octane

"Methanol does have a high octane rating of it's own, at around 114 (some studies indicate up to 119 AKI) so it will increase the octane rating in a similar fashion to ethanol (octane rating about 110)".

If I were running a centrifugal supercharger or turbo and couldn't get e85 this would be the only way I would go

There was a dyno test I saw comparing e85 to 93 and meth. Car made the same power.

Anything added to 93 isn't 93 anymore

Well, first off it was a stock motor and I was only running 93 octane cause I didnt have access to E85. I do now as a gas station opened up with it this year. I have a big CI motor now thats why im running the 3.8 and it makes a little more power than the 2650 does smh.

So ur saying 900 whp isnt fast? Seems pretty fast to me and plenty of ppl race their Hellcats with 900 whp.

Countless Hellcat owners run Whipples on 93 octane bro IDN where ur getting that from. Maybe not hardcore racers but the reality is E85 isnt available in most places so yea 93 octane is what they will be running.

I ran Meth it kept everything cool didnt need the cheesy octane additive.

So why did you switch from a maggie to a whipple on your build then? No serious racers on here run 93 period, especially with a whipple. No one should be running 93 and racing their car modified car without a booster, not safe. I’m just trying to figure out what point you’re trying to make. I don’t think anyone on here that has a whipple runs pump gas

I make around 900 on “stock” blower, it’s meh. 3.8 works with stock engine too, people make over 1k to the wheels with them. Again, on e85. Maggie isn’t a bad blower, but why leave power on the table for the same price as a 3.0/3.8?

The IHI 3.0 that Direct Connection has listed is not the same as the one on the Demon 170. If you will notice it states it is from the Helephant, it comes with a 92mm 4 bolt T.B., 1050 injectors, and a 3.17 pulley.

The IHI 3.0 on the Demon 170 has a 105mm 5 bolt T.B., a larger snout then the Helephant version, and a 3.02 pulley. The Part # for the D170 IHI is 68645773AA and prices out at $29,925.00 CAD retail here in Canada. It is complete with larger injectors, 105mm T.B., etc.

Look at what @16GoManGoHC2 posted. It comes with the 105mm throttle body and injectors. It’s a blower kit. The $29k you’re referencing has to be for the crate engine and supercharger

That part # I listed is not a crate engine it is the D170 blower.
The Direct connection catalog I'm looking at is the for the Helephant version under that P #.

That is an adapter plate they are stating.

By the way, I corrected the part # for the D170 T.S.
I had a 2 instead of a 3 in the #.
Sorry

Pretty sure the 3.0 blower is exactly the same (same rotor pack)... only difference then is the snout, pulley, and TB, and any other accessories (fuel rail/injectors)...

He's right, that would not be the price for a crate engine. Last I read the price for the D170 crate engine was north of $60k.
$29k for just a SC is insane though.

DC is calling several of the 6.2L-block crates "hellephants" (cause we always love more marketing confusion...)
I always thought "hellephant" should/would be reserved for just the 426 block offerings... but I guess not--they couldn't just let that name stay true to its roots.

I bet the one for the Demon 170 is not for sale to the public. Also, you are stating Canadian dollars? The US dollar is stronger and thus less money when converting.

Hrm. Good question. I only see long blocks in the catalog.

Interesting, just checking now, they list the Hellephant C170 long block (sans SC) for only $18,995.
They list the 3.0L w/105mm-92mm adapter with ID1050 injectors for $9,995.
Still not quite exactly the same as the D170, but for $29k pretty close.

Even more interesting in the 3.0L listing is:
- litens 3.17 "hellephant" pulley
- gates SC drive belt
Interesting because Litens claims if you use a gates belt with their hellraiser/hellephant pulley you lose their warranty... and yet here we are... so obviously nothing wrong with a gates belt--it's down to back-room deals between vendors.

Being that I'm in Canada it would be in Canadian dollars.
Still is to much money.
I am able to get it for $19,100.00 CAD.
Which would be about $14,140.00 US.

They should change the name from Canadian dollars to waffles. Much easier to distinguish

Like I said, it’s $29k for the whole kitten caboodle

Yep. You're right.
Ah, found the $60k price tag part--it's for their 1500HP DSR 426 crate engine.
I think the $29k C170 is probably a better platform--you can probably build that up to 1500HP for much less than even the starting price for the $60k crate option.

Anyone notice using powder forged rods listed in the 170 build?
