Well I can not say I didn’t expect this. Once again we cower and bend the knee for the liberal socialist who want to ruin this great country that many of us fought for and great brothers in arms lost their life for.
I will die before I bend the knee to those SOB’s. With that I’m out of here.
Don't go yet....No way they cave...not gonna happen..if it does..save me a seat on the bus...

American Graffiti based in Ca. Spinoff was Happy Days based in Milwaukee. American Graffiti featured Wolfman Jack on the radio throughout the film. Only at the end was it revealed that he was the real deal. Amazing how if you lived through those days the older you get the more you long for them. They are gone forever. A better and simpler time.

Even up into the mid 80's those places were still hopping.

I used to hang out at this place in So. Cal called Angelo's. The girls still came out on skates to get/deliver your order. On the first Friday night of the month it was so crowded that if you weren't on the lot by 5pm, you could forget about getting a spot and would have to park on the street or down the street at the shopping center. There would be hundreds of muscle cars there. Me and guys I was stationed with couldn't wait for the first Friday to go there. We would go other times too.

Always keep those days and experiences close to your heart. They will not be back and you can be sure that you participated in some of the best times in this country’s history.

A-friggn-men. It's about time.
This place has been such a ridiculous political agenda forum lately. Literally a third or so of the new threads a few days ago were political, so the fact that these wont pop up constantly and you have to look for the Anything Goes area is genius. This is a car forum. If I want to read about politics, argue, ridicule and push my crap onto people it wont be here. Unless it's about splitter protectors, or manual shift Hellcats, or 3.09's vs. 2.62's...

The way I surf the forum is usually by hitting the "new posts" button. I started noticing more and more threads from just a few that were all political and usually started with just a link to some other site. Eventually I had to put some of those folks on ignore so I wouldn't see those posts when I hit "new content". With this solution I can take those folks back off ignore so when they post something car related I see it.

I've never started a political thread..much less one with a link of any kind...I rarely will open up the link on those posts..but will respond if the follow up dialogue is of interest..I have participated in political ..(and those having to do with Covid)..while the debate can be spirited..I don't believe membership has for the most part conducted themselves in what I would say are vicious personal attacks that include derogatory name calling...(some just may be overly sensitive in nature)..the Forum is informative..and fun...relegating provocative threads to obscure hard to reach categories is something I'm not quite sure I'm in favor of...if the motivating factor of this initiative is to acquiesce to complaints of a select few that cannot discuss an opposing view be it political..or philosophical..without it being antagonistic...I find that problematic..I don't believe any select few should have that level of influence....call me cynical ...and maybe I'm wrong about this..but something is starting to smell funny here...I'ts a great Forum..a HC forum..but it's just not about cars...I'ts about the people that own them..anything less..is just a glorified car manual..

I hear ya, but I shoulda grabbed a screen shot a few weeks ago when I hit "new posts" and 85% were political rants from 1 or 2 people filling the entire screen. I did complain about it and my solution was to put those folks in ignore since 90% of their topics were nothing to do with Hellcats or cars at all. As a result I missed the 10% that were about car stuff. I don't see a problem with designating an area for that kind of discussion, as to your point, sometimes I would take a look and learn something or get a different perspective. It just shouldn't be the primary topics on a car forum IMO. Anything Goes also insures a person is a member to read those posts as well, rather than just some passerby that happens to find it.

I guess a designated political topic forum could also be created with the same membership requirement as Anything Goes to make them easier to find.

Sorry but I disagree. What smells funny is a handful of people changing a car forum into a political one by repeatedly flooding the New Posts area. Just screams agenda. I see zero wrong with keeping divisive topics in their own area. The people interested can easily find it and the rest of us aren't being forced to deal with using the ignore button and pick through what are essentially political infomercials to get to what we are actually here for. No one's freedom is being infringed upon. I'm not offended by it but more annoyed when it or really any topic repeatedly clogs up the New Posts page. If there were thread after thread after thread about toilet paper I'm sure there would be people complaining and not jumping on the "snowflake" or "the world is trying control us" bandwagon. But because it's politics those comments will surely be flying around. Sometimes it's just plain 'enough is enough'. We get it already.

2017 Redline HC got it right...Its a car site..and a lot more...tech info...mods..problem solving...every nut and bolt of theses cars has been covered..it also is a kind of brotherhood where the weather..our collections..our other passions..life styles...even the music and other diversions we enjoy are shared...although most of us will never meet..we share a common bond...we don't always agree..but as adults we all have the freedom to decide what posts we read..and what topics we indulge in..I'm not convinced sequestering any topic is in the best interest of the continued success of the Forum...especially if posts are scrutinized to the point that the least little thing might be interpreted as political content...The moderators do a fantastic job...largely do in part to allowing creative license..we all know in todays world people have become too sensitive..insulted..and offended far too easily...enjoy the topics that brought you here...and just ignore the ones that don't interest you...you always have a choice..just my .02
Agree 1000% <toast> However, when the majority of the new posts are political, might be time to separate them. Anything goes is fine. Making a new political one is fine too. Personally Im here either way no matter what happens

Is there any way to program the forums to allow each individual user to check off on their user preferences if they want AG section to pop up their “New Posts” feed?

I’m no IT guy, but would seem like a simple programming to say use query 1 if checked (no filter) or use query 2 to filter out AG new posts if not checked?

I’d donate to website for that upgrade.

It has not gone unnoticed that the membership in large part is no longer focused on our cars.

Many of us have grown weary of it, despite, at least for me, my general agreement and support with/for most of the topics.

Some members have voiced a desire to leave because of it, and it's not just a select few either. We don't have a robust enough membership to start loosing a bunch of primary members and have a viable forum.

To the points::

  • If you're creating a thread that is "political" in nature, it needs to be in the "Anything Goes" sub-forum.
  • If your innocent thread somehow becomes political, it will be moved to Anything Goes.
    • If your thread isn't about cars, or some funny cow slipping on the ice, or cat slapping a printer, there's a good chance it's political.
      • Yes, there are topics about cars that are political, but they were about cars first, so they may be ok... may...
  • If you can't speak without using decent language, don't speak at all. If you feel like somebody deserves it, take it to a PM, and even then, even if they are flat out wrong, don't insult them. Wait until you're offline and tell your friends about the Jackwaggon that you had an Internet Argument with. I had a whole battle with a member here and never once called him a Jackwaggon.

Those are the primary points, but they aren't everything. While I drew the short straw to get to post this, it isn't just me. You can still have your political discussions, they simply need to be in the right spot.

I'm going to try to take some time away now, but like crack-cocaine, the addiction is severe. So we'll see how long it lasts.

M-
I agree @BULL , there's a time & place for everything, & this is a car / HC forum, sometimes we can get carried away with some of the stuff going on now a days.
I'll try to be a good boy scout :rolleyes:, screw it I can't do it, JK. :LOL: [cheers]

Stop making sense. Ya' know for a car salesmen you're not fitting the profile of a lowlife shi^ bag. So go back to your Barca lounger and hit the clapper button to make the tv come on and drive around in your Cadillac with Hellcat badges on it. :LOL::ROFLMAO:. So wait... I cursed and insulted you..I'm banning myself! Great post! (yours not mine)

Good question @HellcatFan? That would solve a lot of problems. I'm for finding a solution that everyone feels good about.

@thetalonguy

Yes, you'll first need to Watch the "Anything Goes" Forum, then on the New Posts adjust the Filter to include Watched content.

Thanks! I think we’re getting closer here.

Quick question, is there a way to mass watch all forums at once? I just tried above and it seems like New Posts is just pulling AG section plus any old thread I may have commented or subd to, but not read the latest posts.
