I know there's a few "RF Lockout" threads across the general forums, but I was interested in one specifically for the DSRT 392 peeps.

I use a Faraday pouch (tested it and it works), and am considering having Dodge's "Key Programming Lockdown" done.

Seeing I park her in the driveway and live in a smallish town of ~30k people (a few miles away from a city of ~60k people), is the Key Lockdown overkill for my DSRT 392 and location?

Thnx in advance ...

Just had my car done at dealership the other day , plus an additional kill switch that I have installed. No such thing as overkill in my opinion. Good luck.

No. I have it done to my ‘23 DD392 SRT. I actually witnessed about a 15-20min attempt to steal it in Aurora, CO last year in the business parking lot where I was working! No success for them. My key was with me, unprotected about 300 yards and one story up away from the vehicle.

When you park it in a driveway there’s no such thing as overkill.

I live in a small, rural community & I believe some dudes tried to swipe mine while I was at a Lowes not long after I got it.
Net - no place is as safe as you imagine !

I would strongly encourage having it done. The more preventative measures you can implement, the better odds your DDSRT will remain yours.

Thnx for the quick responses guys.

If I understand correctly, the Key Lockdown prevents additional key fobs from being copied, but the fobs still transmit a signal.

If I use a Faraday key pouch that lasts (I had one that stopped working after 2-3 months) then there won't even be a signal for anyone to pick up and try to copy.

Right?

No one is exactly sure is what I understand. Like I did on both of my vehicles, why not get it done? That is what everyone says above.

My current understanding is, the RF Lockout TSB prevents any NEW signal-"key" from being generated, but your CURRENT key-signal can still be stolen, which leads to your second question...

How can a basic Farady cage stop working??

I had a Faraday Key Pouch for a vehicle I previously owned (bought the pouch off Amazon for $10 ea, had good reviews).

After a few months I went out to my car and forgot to remove the keyfob from the pouch, and guess what. The door opened! I initially purchased two of them, so I got the other pouch (still new in it's packaging) and that one worked.

So I went back and checked the comments again for that pouch, and low and behold, other people also reported that after a few months it was no longer blocking the signal. Now I'm no engineer, but it seems that after daily use, the fabric that blocks the signal must deteriorate in some way and it stops working.

So I now bought a different brand Faraday Key Pouch ($20 ea) which seems higher tech. I'll let you know if it lasts ...

Seems things are getting complicated on this lockout thing.

Not at all. No confusion whatsoever. The RF hub lockout was never intended to block the signal that is transmitted by the fob, which is not how these cars are typically stolen.

I was just referring to the comment "your CURRENT key-signal can still be stolen" in addition to my previous experience with a failed Faraday Key Pouch.

OK but your use of the word lockout pointed me in that direction.

I'm still trying to locate a dealer who knows about/can install Dodge's Key Lockdown ...
