This should have been the plan from the start for Ram, not a full on EV.

The Ramcharger is the only "EV" I would be interested in at all
Still wish there was some sort of mechanical connection between the drivetrain and the gas engine in case of emergencies.

How does this system work?

V6 gas engine runs generator that charges the battery, and the vehicle ONLY moves on the electric motors!

NO MECHANICAL CONNECTION FROM GAS ENGINE TO DRIVETRAIN AT ALL.

nothing like the Tundra that I had. The electric motor assisted the gas motor

Yep, nothing like that, 100% electric drive with a gas generator
It's this with the generator built in

I have a reservation on the Scout Traveler (SUV) with the Harvester package. The Harvester package is a gas powered range extender similar to the Ramcharger, and the claim is 500 miles on one tank/charge. I think the Scout has some potential.

The Ramcharger is supposedly over 600-mile range, and this is why I too believe it has potential and is the ONLY electric Stellantis product I think might succeed.

One of the major problems I see is that insurance companies are jacking up the rates on anything with a battery because of the fire risk.

I think this would be the preferred option, but doesn't this approach make it a form of hybrid... I am not 100% clear on the subtle differences of hybrid vehicles (series vs parallel) but the combination of gas and electric sounds like a much better option for those that may want to drive longer distances. I would consider this to be a much better fit for most consumers.
I have a friend that commutes in a Toyota Prius and the hybrid setup gives him very good efficiency - around 50 MPG in normal driving (around town) along with good acceleration. I would have expected the automotive world to go this path, rather than jumping to full electric, but I would also expect that to be the natural evolution of transportation and not something pushed by politicians with their hands in our pockets...
