I haven’t tested it I personally do not run one at all
I’m still using the factory oem and I’ve had no issues at all ,yes it will help the trans run cooler but mine has ran as high as 210 on temp without any problems whatsoever, our trans with proper fluids are designed for these temps

Doesn't the thermostat have a check valve with a spring? Could you not reverse the spring and check valve to have free flow? This has worked many other transmissions.

There’s lots you can buy that eliminates the thermostatic valve all together but I don’t recommend doing that as it also has a restriction built into which when eliminated cause a converter charge condition,I wouldn’t bother with it personally

Converter charge is done through the pump and stator. Thermostat is in the converter out circuit after converter dump. If the valve in the thermostat gets stuck, it will cook the converter and planets for lack of lube. I disable every one I work on for racing.

I have not disabled mine yet as it only has 3500 mi on it. If it's anything like the Ram units, it will have to be replaced with a unit without a bypass valve. ATS in Colorado makes a free flow unit under 100.00 for the Ram.
Hpindy, The valves in these units are known for sticking in the Rams and nothing you can do in the computer will save your trans if it sticks.
Converter fluid ( which is the hottest fluid in the trans ) goes straight to the bypass unit and will not open till about 170F. We are seeing these valves stick and not open at all sometimes on the Rams. This means the hot fluid goes right back in the trans bypassing the cooler. Not good.
I'll be looking at mine this week and see what I can do and report back.

I should mention that I build racing diesel transmissions for a living.

I have not heard of this issue . Good to know . I am concerned with heat in the transmission so that's why I lowered the temps .

I’ve seen them fail on the Ram trucks you speak of but on the hellcats I haven’t had one with the issue
Brian Carter’s car had tried to eliminate it and he ran into a converter charge issue and the car would not shift 1-2 under full throttle at the track , he went in a ghost chase trying to figure out what the issue was and finally he reinstalled it and the car went to shifting again,I believe his is a 19 model maybe the later models are different as I know earlier models from people that have removed them haven’t had that issue, me personally I’m ok with it being in the vehicle because I’ve never had an issue and the trans has broken 4 e drums but has never showed an issue with over temps
