Unfortunately your going to beat me by miles as I decided to go a different route on pistons then the ones I had and the custom features I want built into them is going to put them out 6 or so weeks :( But it’ll all be worth the wait in the end. My Capri LOVES the cold weather of early spring and she’s my best track car consistency wise so I won’t be on the sidelines totally till the cats ready to claw again. Time to fill the NOS bottles for the older lady.

Sorry if you answered this already, were you able to test and determine the results of opening up the fuel system before you went into the rabbit hole?

:)

Yes and no. Modifications at the rails helped but I knew there had to be more restrictions in the feed line yet, 2 more found and removed. I’ll be needing a bit more fuel now so if the same fuel system keeps up they will all have helped but unfortunately I won’t be ready to run in cold before summer so cold weather apples to apples comparisons with have to wait for fall :( But I’m hoping the fuel system keeps up through the summer and I don’t have to make any fuel system changes so we can see next fall.

This addition has been taking up ALL of my time of late but she will make the 6 week wait on custom pistons go by fast. I don’t think I’ve laughed and smiled as much in the past 3 years as I have since bringing her home Saturday. She’s such a little love bug I swear there’s some of the departed ones soul in her, she’s a Godsend to my depressed state of late. 9 weeks old only and hasn’t gone potty in the house once yet, unbelievable but not complaining lol. She’s funny as hell trying to make friends with the grumpy old lady of 13 we still have that snarls at her when she gets near her, hopefully she warms up to her soon

Lots of meat above the top ring, quench area shaped for the head.

Pistons supposed to ship this Friday so balancing can happen maybe next week🤞
In the mean time I’ve been doing measurements on clutch and flywheel assemblies; old, new, and McLeod. Dimensions match within .050” as far as stack height go but weights are a bit different. So the question becomes use McLeod RXT1200HD on RAM aluminum SFI flywheel which is 2 lbs lighter then stock assembly or a new stock clutch and PP on the RAM flywheel which is 3 lbs lighter then the McLeod combo 5 lbs lighter then original assembly? The McLeod will hold the power no doubt but might be a bit grabby, the stock assembly will be softer and easier on drivetrain but how long will it hold up to 1000 wheel??
Opinions???

OE assembly on the right?

How much power have you run through the OE so far?

Was there much heat glazing on the faces?

I've always suspected that the OE was more capable than it is given credit for.

I think very few give it its full break-in prior to dumping full power through it??

Yes, OE on the right. You are correct, properly broke in the OE clutch can take more then stock power, I’ve put 855 wheel through it for 2 years including track duty and many street 1/4 pulls. For the last 4000 miles or so it endured 940 wheel and held it fine until just before tear down it slipped occasionally banging 4th gear hard. The plate facing did have some hot spots here and there but the clutch plates where worn down close to their wear limit numbers. The finger height worn to new where almost a 1/2” difference, the more a clutch wears the higher the fingers become. The decision comes down to how much would 5 lbs off a 60lb clutch assembly make in spool up time?? If negligible I’ll use the McLeod on the Ram which is still 3 lbs lighter then the stock assembly. By the way, difference from new to worn clutch discs was almost 3/4 of a lb!!

Dunno on the weight question but Ivorycat slip his McLeod enough to leave a ploom on shifts at the track. He runs 9.9, to 10.0x at about 138mph in the quarter.

I’ve watched a few of his videos, spectacular runs and times for a I believe stock ratio M6. Does he run a clutch tamer and or NLS system as well do you know? Sounds like it in some of the videos.
